Security concerns raised about China as U.S. lifts satellite export ban

WASHINGTON — The United States has been preparing to approve satellite exports to allies in the Middle East.

The Defense Department has recommended the lifting of restrictions on commercial satellite exports. A Pentagon report said exports of reconnaissance satellites would help the U.S. industry as part of the restructuring of the U.S. Munitions List and Commerce Department’s Commerce Control List.

"For four years, the State Department has dragged its feet on enforcing the current regime; specifically when it comes to companies the department believes have illegally diverted our space technology to China."
